Early in the pandemic, Chicago had a serious message to deliver: stay home.
Unfortunately, people were tired, scared and already being shouted at from every direction. Another official government announcement was probably not going to do much.
Around the same time, Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s no-nonsense approach had turned her into a citywide meme. So instead of fighting what the internet was doing, we joined in.
We created a series of self-aware social posts and videos that placed the mayor in everyday situations, always there to remind Chicagoans to keep their asses in the house.
The work spread across the city, became some of the mayor’s most visible social content and helped take the conversation all the way to The Daily Show.
A public-health message, delivered with a very Chicago sense of humor.
